Island credit union receives accolades

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union recently received a 2007 Diamond Merit Award for its effort in branding and corporate identity from the Credit Union National Association. The award was announced at CUNA’s annual marketing and business development council conference in Las Vegas. CUNA is the premier national trade association serving credit unions and the Diamond Awards is one of the credit union industry’s most prestigious awards competitions.

The local credit union was presented the merit award for its redesign and makeover of its corporate identification. In 2006, it launched a successful branding campaign that centered on the phrase, “Ownership Counts.” CUNA presented the merit award for increasing its name recognition and expanding its member base while clarifying the nature of the organization. The judging panel was made up of nationally acclaimed credit union marketers and other marketing professionals familiar with the credit union industry. Credit union professionals submitted 1,175 entries in 35 categories.

Housecalls of Hawaii opens in West Hawaii

Residents and visitors now have a convenient and affordable alternative to traditional doctor’s visits — Housecalls of Hawaii LLC recently began making medical housecalls to West Hawaii residents and visitors. Housecalls of Hawaii physicians and physician’s assistants essentially bring the doctor’s office to people’s homes, offices or hotel rooms, a novel — yet old-fashioned — way of doing business.

Housecalls of Hawaii’s team of experts provides urgent care services for any medical condition that is not life-threatening. The certified providers are equipped with modern diagnostic equipment and medicines, allowing them to treat most medical conditions on the spot and perform blood work in the field. Housecalls of Hawaii offers prescription writing and refill services and coordination of medication. The medical providers offer physical exams for employment, school, sports, CDL and scuba. They can suture and provide suture removal as well as provide follow-up care after emergency room or hospital discharge. They will coordinate care with home health nursing services and primary care physicians if desired.

The service is available 24 hours a day, whenever medical assistance is required. A provider usually is available within an hour for urgent housecalls. If the housecall is not urgent, patients can schedule an appointment at their convenience.

Housecalls of Hawaii providers include Darren S. Geliga, PA-C, Ronda Soto, APRN, and Dickran Boranian, MD, board certified in internal medicine (medical director). Housecalls of Hawaii services Kalaoa, Kailua-Kona, Holualoa, Kealakekua and Captain Cook. The providers may see other areas on a case-by-case basis.
